Valentina Monetta sounds familiar to Eurovision fans: she were selected for the third time in a row to represent San Marino at Eurovision. Will she qualify for the final, can she bring the first victory for San Marino? Maybe. Here you can read my interview about Valentina’s plans, and about the birth of the song.
This year you were selected to represent San Marino at Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen for the third time in a row. Are you hesitated to say yes to this request?
I didn’t have much time to think about it. I see it as a circle of growth, why interrupt a such great opportunity.
What’s the message of your song?
Maybe is an evolution of Chrysalis. The butterfly takes the flight, taking along all that might be useful during the long flight. Not knowing on which flower to land. It is the life itself. Living it without reserves and masks. With the courage to exist, to be yourself, to fall in love, to take risky choices…. And to think positively.
I saw your videoclip and it’s really nice. Where was it shooted?
Thank you. Nature is a gift. It has been filmed in the beaches of Riccione, some 30 kms from San Marino. That’s where I started doing sports and it has been a great idea by the team using these elements I adore the most: wind and sea. Special thanks go to Fabrizio Raggi and Michele Massari.
Are you working on the choreography of your Copenhagen perfomance?
I can only tell that you will see me smiling and happy. Maybe. 🙂
Do you follow Eurovision Song Contest? If yes, since when?
Since 2008. After that I have studied it. I always thought it was out of my range though… but now we know better!
This year there will be 37 countries in the contest. Do you have your favourites, your main competitors?
Hungary, wow! The video! Wow, great story! Then Germany, Armenia, Belarus…. But I can’t make an idea of my main competitors as yet. Maybe I will be in the final with my favorites?
What are your expectations, your main aims at Eurovision?
To grow, live this passion inside me, this vortex of live that I hope never stops. And then I have this album I’d like you all to hear…..
What inspires you?
My sensibility. Of all I live and how. Wind, sea, night, moon…. like most authors I think.
What are your plans after Eurovision? Will you relax?
Maybe… Sardegna, here I come!
What would you like to send to the Hungarian readers and fans of Valentina?
Enjoy your life and….. goooooo!!!!
Thanks for Valentina Monetta for this interview, and special thanks to Mr. Markus Luem.
We wish all the best for you in Copenhagen!
